After the all-electric Nissan LEAF's best sales month ever in March and a 423.5 percent year-over-year sales increase in April, Nissan LEAF continues to make history by crossing the 25,000 sales threshold, reinforcing LEAF's position as the world's best-selling electric vehicle.
"From the beginning our goal with LEAF has been to bring affordable, zero-emission transportation to the mass market in a practical, fun-to-drive package," said Erik Gottfried, Nissan director of electric vehicle (EV) marketing and sales strategy. "With more than 25,000 LEAFs in the U.S. and 62,000 around the world, we're seeing the adoption curve for EVs accelerate, and there is tremendous interest not only on the West Coast but in a number of new strongholds like Atlanta, Raleigh, Denver, Dallas, Chicago, St. Louis and many more."

The LEAF incorporates a communication device called the Telematics Communication Unit, or TCU. The connection between this unit and the NISSAN CARWINGS™(if so equipped) Data Center allows you to operate certain remote functions in your vehicle, using an internet enabled smart phone or personal computer. To initiate remote functions you must activate the CARWINGS™ service in your vehicle, if so equipped. If using a personal computer to operate remote functions, the computer must be connected to the internet, or if you use an internet enabled smart phone, the phone must be located in a cell phone coverage area.
The remote charging features allow you to check on the battery status and charge the battery. Additionally, you can set the remote functions to notify you if the charge connector is not connected to the vehicle when the charging timer is set or if charging stops halfway through the process. You can also use the remote functions to turn on the heater or air conditioner while the vehicle is charging. Doing so, reduces the load on the battery while driving and can increase the driving range. If the remote air conditioner and battery charging functions are performed at the same time, battery charging will take longer than usual. Some cell phones cannot be used to check the battery charging status, please refer to your Navigation System Owner's Manual for more information regarding all remote functions on your vehicle.
